My Favorite Time of Year

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas!

There's only so much you can write about Christmas each year, but it's honestly my favorite time of year and I haven't exactly bragged about it before...so here goes nothing in a somewhat poetic style of writing:

I can't help but smile when I see the lights upon the street.

The twinkling glow of a gleam that brightens everything.

The unique decor that lines the trees,

are a wonder for every eye to see.

The red and green go together oh so nicely,

and I can't help but dream of that blooming fir tree,

with a star up top,

a nativity scene,

and an array of memories that ornaments garnish so delicately.

There's a wreath on the door,

stockings on the hearth,

and garlands strung about in a chaotic whirl.

The tablecloth is themed,

so is the dinnerware,

along with trinkets here and there,

I can't help but stare.

The decorations are one thing...but think of the spirit!

The atmosphere is a blend of kind and nice,

with maybe some hints of spice.

Spice for the tea,

spice for the pie,

spice for the food that will fill you just right.

The joy around the table is a glorious delight.

Laughter is heard.

Stories are told.

Memories are made,

to be cherished for years unknown.

Christmas music everywhere.

Concert halls sing.

Nutcrackers dance.

This is the spirit of Christmas,

where everyone chants,

where everyone sings,

where everyone meets,

meeting and greeting everyone that passes by in a glance.

People you would normally never greet in the past.

It's a joyous season, where kindness melts,

even the hardest of hearts in pursuit.

Even the hardest of hearts with wounds.

Sometimes Christmas can be bittersweet,

sometimes it brings up unwanted memories.

But through it all, it is still a joyous thing,

to celebrate a savior,

that's the greatest thing.

I can't help but smile to think of the king,

the one who came to this earth, with joy to bring.

The one who came to this world to save lost souls,

to leave us hope so willingly.

I can't help but fall on my knees,

in gratitude and thanksgiving.

It's a great time of year with laughter and cheer,

but what makes it my favorite,

is the birth of a baby,

so humble and sweet,

I can't possibly ask for anything more to think.

I can't possibly ask anything more of a king.

He's done everything.

I'm here for another Christmas because he saves me.

He saved my heart.

He saves my mind,

and he has certainly saved my body.

It's my favorite time of year because of the greatest gift of all.

King Jesus,

Lord forevermore.

Wishing you all the best Christmas and holiday season!! Praying that you find healing and joy amidst this time of year among family and friends - know that you are so deeply loved! <3
